June 10, 2010 Update:

We donated 85 racquets, bags of tennis balls, grips and strings to Inner City Tennis Clinics! (ICTC). ICTC is a catalyst for Cleveland's urban youth in developing a lifelong interest in the sport of tennis combined with a positive youth developed perspective. ICTC provides a safe way for Cleveland's urban youth to cultivate healthy relationships with peers, mentors, and improve their physical and mental well being. ICTC is sponsored by The City of Cleveland, USTA, Private Donors, and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Thanks to all the clubs and individuals that continually donate their old racquets to Racquets For Rookies!!

To date, Racquets for Rookies has donated close to 500 racquets to various charitable organizations!! Please keep the donations coming!!

February 24, 2010 Update:

50 racquets with covers and bags of balls were donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters Association in Shaker Heights, Ohio. The Director of Volunteer Services stated that they are so excited and inspired to be able to offer tennis to their children now for the first time!

July 8, 2009 Update:

Yea! We reached our goal! We delivered 100 racquets (all with covers), garbage bags full of balls, and two huge, brand new Wilson tennis bags on wheels to the City of Cleveland Parks and Recreation! They were thrilled! They will now have tennis as one of the activities at the children's camps! Thanks to everyone who made donations!

May 5, 2009 Update:

Racquets For Rookies is a successful on going project that started in January 2008. We have donated over 160 racquets so far and are currently working on our largest order yet! The City of Cleveland Parks and Recreation has eleven facilities that have tennis courts. This wonderful non-profit organization is in dire need of tennis racquets and balls for the children's camps (ages 8-18) that start in June! They would love to offer tennis as one of their activities, but they need the equipment! We are hoping to offer them 100-200 racquets!

Please help us to help others learn and play the game of tennis! If you have any racquets to donate, just email us and we will come and pick them up!

Racquets for Rookies went one step further and took some of the tennis girls on a shopping spree!
